Here are the ten most popular video games on Steam

Although its status was challenged more than ever, Steam is still the dominant PC video game download platform.

She just released the list of her most popular games.

To make up this ranking, Steam looked at which games had the largest peak of connected players simultaneously and classified them into several categories according to their popularity.

The queen category includes ten titles with more than 100,000 players at the same time. Some games that have experienced peaks of very short players by holding competitions have been excluded from the ranking, explains the platform on its site. Steam does not reveal the exact number of players for each game.

In the list below, the titles are ranked according to their score on Metacritic, a site that gives a score out of 100 to the games based on their critical acceptance.

Steam also reveals the top 100 gross revenue sales on the platform, as well as the best deals among new products and best sales of RV games.

Unclassified*  – Realm Royale

  • Metacritic Score: not available
  • Release Date: early access since June 5, 2018.

Warframe

  • Score Metacritic: 69/100
  • Release Date: 25 March, 2013.
  • Publisher: Digital Extremes
  • Review: “Digital Extremes has created something that is often fun to play, and given the price of the game, ‘Warframe’ is worth a look if you want something different.”— IGN

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

  • Score Metacritic: 79/100
  • Release date: 1 December 2015.
  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Critique: “‘Rainbow Six Siege’ has the effect of a bomb, sometimes literally, but it is handicapped by its progression system and a little bit also by its lack of content.”— IGN

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

  • Score Metacritic: 83/100
  • Release date: 21 August 2012.
  • Publisher: Valve
  • Critique: “‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ fully deserves its status as a new opus in its own right. In addition to an acceptable graphic redesign and an unparalleled fluidity, this episode achieves a delicate synthesis between its decried predecessor and the original mod so adulated.”— Gamekult

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

  • Score Metacritic: 86/100
  • Release Date: 21 December, 2017.
  • Publisher: PUBG Corporation
  • Critique: “A phenomenon that is Twitch, a rising star in the competitive scene, an excellent title that provides sensations of tension and adrenaline rush that very few games we had given previously.”— jeuxvideo.com

Path of Exile

  • Score Metacritic: 86/100
  • Release Date: 23 October, 2013.
  • Publisher: Grinding Gear Games
  • Critique: “‘Path of Exile’ has nothing to envy to the big productions and constitutes, at the moment, a very good alternative to the genre, thanks in particular to interesting and well-integrated game mechanics.”— jeuxvideo.com

Monster Hunter World

  • Score Metacritic: 86/100
  • Release date: 9 August 2018.
  • Publisher: CAPCOM Co., Ltd.
  • Criticism: “regardless of the console on which to play, you take full peepers! If you are a fan of an action game and RPG, we can only advise you to try this Monster Hunter World, which is a serious candidate for best game of the year 2018.”— Game blog

Dota 2

  • Score Metacritic: 90/100
  • Release date: 9 July 2013.
  • Publisher: Valve
  • Critique: “the game experience on ‘Dota’ changes every day — some nights are going to be fun, while others are going to undermine your morale — but there are few games worth as much time spent on as this one. Those who invest in ‘Dota 2’ will find many moments of happiness in this new immaculate version.”— Gamespot

Team Fortress 2

  • Score Metacritic: 90/100
  • Release date: 10 October 2007.
  • Publisher: Valve
  • Critique: “built on the foundations of pure fun, Valve’s multiplayer FPS takes up the very broad gameplay of its ancestors to see them again from head to toe with a mixture of boldness and humor that almost always hits the spot.”— Gamekult

Grand Theft Auto V

  • Score Metacritic: 96/100
  • Release date: 14 April 2015.
  • Publisher: Rockstar Games
  • Review: “Rockstar’s title is a potpourri of good ideas, reinventing the open world and narrating with diabolical precision the destiny of three vile scoundrels in a huge virtual Los Angeles. (…) As for the multiplayer, ‘GTA Online’ offers a real extension of the solo experience and creates a new genre subject to evolution.”— jeuxvideo.com
